Great Book!! Get it ASAP!!

This book is mind blowing!! What can I say... buy it, read it, and read it again!! (As soon as possible if you haven't read it.)

This book and most of the rest of Abraham-Hicks information will lead you to the promise land..the land where you can create whatever life you want. There is very good information in here concerning all parts of life from children to adult relationships. Mine came with a CD that also hada transcript of a live workshop.

The contents of book are like this:
Your vortex (Learning to Attract Joyous Co-creators)
Mating: The perfect mate, getting one, being one, attracting one.)
Sexuality and Sensuality and opinions of others
Parenting (Creating Positive parent child relationships)
Self-appreciation (The magic key to your vortex)
and the last part is a transcript of a workshop which is also on CD included with the book)

I have seen some weird stuff in my life since reading this book like just this morning, information I need showed up on my phone as a picture. I was searching Google images for a picture of codes for a certain remote control last night but I couldn't find one that had 4 digits in the code. The pictures all showed only 3 codes. So I cleared my phone and went to bed. Then this morning it was there. It isn't in my photos on my phone or any other folder with pictures and it was not yet uploaded to Google drive so I don't know where it came from. What does this have to do with this book? Just that, we absorb information when we read a book and perhaps that had an effect and I may have unconsciously created what we needed... I don't know. I just know that this book gives you the keys to your own kingdom by explaining what you need to do to get into the Vortex, which is where you create from.

This book is broken down in a very simple way and it's very easy to grasp. I never thought I'd find peace at my workplace until I learned how to get into The Vortex! I realized that I was the one creating all the turmoil that invaded my being when involving myself with complicated co-workers. By understanding the Law of Attraction and how we get what we get, I was able to become an 'Allower' and ALL turned out well for me at my job. About the Author

Thomas Pyzdek is a Six Sigma consultant with over 40 years of experience in the field. His clients include Ford, McDonald’s, Intuit, Boeing, Seagate, Avon Products, and many other companies. Mr. Pyzdek is a recipient of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Edwards Medal for outstanding contributions to the practice of quality management and the E.L. Grant Medal for outstanding leadership in the development and presentation of meritorious educational programs in quality. He has also recently received a Lean Six Sigma Leadership award from the American Quality Institute.

Paul Keller is Vice President of and senior consultant with Quality America, a Six Sigma Training company. Nearly 3,000 students to date have used his Six Sigma training program to achieve Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt certifications. Mr. Keller is the author of Six Sigma Demystified.

If I didn't already know about Six Sigma, this book would not have taught me

The book contains a lot of information, but it's very difficult to learn from it. I already knew the basics of 6 Sigma, so I was able to understand what the author was talking about. If I didn't already know the concept, it would have been like reading greek. The book never gives a simple overview of what 6 Sigma means. He explains the details of each piece of the jigsaw puzzle, but doesn't tell you what the puzzle will look like in the end. The book begins not with an explanation of what 6 sigma is, but with the benefits of it. He provides equations on limits of r, u, np, sigma, averages charts, and others, early on, but doesn't explain what those charts are until chapter 8. I kept reading and re-reading, thinking that I missed something. Another example: He uses the term "subgroup" in equations, examples, and descriptions of situations. The term "subgroup" is not defined until page 235. Sure, I tried to look it up in the glossary -- it isn't there. I tried the index, as well. It's not there either. Believe me, if you need to read a book in order to learn and understand 6 Sigma, look elsewhere. I admit, I didn't read the entire book. That's because I didn't learn anything in the first 250 pages.

A Must HAVE- But a hard read....

I took a very in-depth online Six Sigma certification class. This book was the required textbook for the course. It does thoroughly cover all aspects of Six Sigma, but BE WARNED!! It is dry reading FILLED with acronyms that I don't think even certified black-belts could remember all of. I was glad to see another reviewer comment on the writing style. I also found it poorly written. The author reminds me of a boss I once had- it's the classic "I'll just keep talking over everyone's head, until they see my superior intellect or I convince them of their own stupidity." I consider myself to be well educated, and one who picks up almost any project easily. I found myself scratching my head and asking, "SERIOUSLY? Is this guy for real??" While it probably is the definitive Six Sigma textbook, be prepared for the math, algebra, an alphabet soup of acronyms and more corporate "buzz word" speak than you can shake a stick at!

Indispensable reference from the authority

Thomas Pyzdek has been doing 6 sigma and 6 sigma training for many years. The reference manual is an indispensable tool for any SSGB/SSBB. It is extremely comprehensive and thorough and goes over each stage in the DMAIC road map, along with the tools, in a very high level of detail. If you are not enrolled in a SS training course or if you are new to SS, this is not a book you want to be using as a self teaching book - however, for everyone else (those who are SS certified or are going through certification), this handbook is a treasure trove of tools, tips, and techniques for everything six sigma related.

Remember, this book is not designed as a self-study guide (you could use it, but because it jumps into a lot of the more high level material, it would be confusing to many new to SS). This book is designed as a road map and a reference guide for those already familiar with the SS process and methodology and want to gain a better understanding of each of the DMAIC/DMADV process steps, as well as a very thorough overview and in depth discussion of each of the statistical tools. The biggest improvement of this book over the second edition was a more in-depth review of software tools as well as an expanded appendix reviewing statistical charts.

There and back again (but not on the Long Island Expressway)

I first picked up The Power Broker when it was published 25 years ago. Since then I've re-read it three or four times over the years. It is a true monument to Caro that this book has remained in print in both hc and pb over these years.
This massive work is at the same time a biography of Robert Moses and the metropolitan New York City area. Moses, originally a reformer and a true public servant, somehow became tainted by the power entrusted to him. It was his way or no way -- and once he became firmly entrenched there was no "no way." A typical Moses tactic: design a great public work (bridge, for example) and underestimate the budget. A bargain sure to be approved and funded by the politicians! Then run out of money halfway through construction. The rest of the money will surely be forthcoming because no politician wants to be associated with a half-finished and very visibile "failure" -- it's much better to take credit for an "against the odds" success.
I grew up in NYC at the tail end of Moses' influence and I remember the 1964 Worlds Fair in NYC vividly, especially a "guidebook" that lionized Moses' construction prowess. In school, Moses' contribution was also taught (always positively) when we had units covering NYC history. If nothing else, Moses understood the power of good publicity, and used tactics later adopted by the current mayor (King Rudy) to control the press and public opinion. This book brings Moses back to human scale and deconstructs (no pun intended) his impact on the city.
The book is long, detailed, and compelling. Great beach reading -- especially at Jones Beach! Now that it is celebrating its 25th anniversary, a new retrospective afterword from the author would be appreciated (perhaps a reprint of the article he wrote for the New Yorker a few years ago on how he wrote the book).
An interesting counterpoint to this biography of Moses is The Great Bridge by David McCollough. This story of a great public works project is also a biography of the Roeblings, the family of engineers who designed and built it. They shared Moses' singlemindedness, but the methods and results had far less negative results.

Am awesome book, but even more useful as an exercise ...

There really needs to be a Kindle version of this. An awesome book, but even more useful as an exercise weight. Read 10 pages then do a few curls, repeat several times per chapter. You will come away with a keen understanding of the man who built much of NYCs infrastructure as well as a set of biceps like no other.

A public work in itself

I was attracted to this book because I thought, now that suburban sprawl is a fait accompli and we have all decided it's a bad thing, we might want to understand the philosophy behind it in the first place. There is that in this book, and so much more. Basically, Moses never really grasped that things had changed since he first built parkways to Long Island in the 1920s. He thought of driving principally as a recreational activity, or a means of reaching recreation. It never occurred to him that people would be using them to go long distances to and from work every day. And he refused to listen to any voice beside his own. More than anything else, this towering book is a uniquely American story in the vein of Citizen Kane (as well as all the other narratives referred to above). It's easy to paraphrase a line from that film and say that if Moses hadn't had power, he might have been a truly great man. Ironically enough, Caro pays tribute to Moses best by having done this biography determinedly and exhaustively ... the way Moses himself would have done such a job. And his storytelling skills are such that you go from rooting for Moses in the '20s as he fights the Gatsby-types to build his state parks to rooting (often unsuccessfully) against him in the '50s as he arrogantly bulldozes highways through city neighborhoods and lets the machine scalp the poor through his "housing" program. All the way, Moses's best and worst qualities - a twisted genius - are laid bare. If I had to say something negative, it would be to second the comments that there's still more to the story ... I'd love to see an uncut version, even if it were 2,000 pages. And I'd love to see a movie, too.
